We’re hosting a special presentation of forty 30-second silent art films, where you, the audience, will compose the soundtrack on the fly. Think Mystery Science Theatre 3000, but without the scriptwriters.
Date: Friday May 28th at 7:45 PM
Place: Echo Park Film Center (1200 N. Alvarado St. @ Sunset, Los Angeles 90026)
Cost: $5 at the door
Bring: Drinks, a noise-making instrument, a music-making instrument, your voice.
The program is part of the Art By Chance Ultra Short Film Festival and will feature 40 short films from around the world. The films range in tone from the super abstract to the totally hilarious.
We’re asking you to bring noisemakers and instruments. Anything is an instrument, in our book: Pots and pans, toy trumpets, drums, whistles, a kazoo, your dog’s favorite squeeze toy, your voice, or your grandmother’s Stradivarius.
We’re going to compose music for the films collectively, on the spot, on the fly, with no prior knowledge of film composing, musicianship, or foley for that matter. Some brave souls may try their hand at voice-over, if they dare. All are welcome to participate in any way they see fit.
Can we do it? Come find out.
