Food, Drink, Movies. DISCUSS.
The best way to end your weekend, ever.
In light of recent events in Japan, we will be giving 35% of the proceeds at the door to the tsunami relief efforts through Second Harvest Japan.
CSLA is excited to team up with our newest venue partner: The super hip Royal/T, Los Angeles’ first Japanese-style cosplay café.
We think we’ve found the best possible film to show at this unique Japanese-inspired space, a movie Filmmaker Magazine calls ‘the best film not playing at a theatre near you’: Mike Ott’s LiTTLEROCK
LiTTLEROCK is the story of a Japanese brother (Rintaro Sawamoto) and sister (played by the remarkable Atsuko Okatsuka, who also co-wrote the script) visiting America. When their car breaks down, the siblings find themselves in the dusty town of Littlerock, CA. After a chance meeting with the local youth, including a particularly eccentric loner played pitch-perfectly by newcomer Cory Zacharia, the sister is charmed into staying behind while her brother continues on. Despite the language barrier, relationships mature and become complex. Sometimes, saying goodbye is not as easy as it would appear.
Join us for a cozy Sunday evening: Royal/T will be providing libations and food for purchase – all served by adorable cosplay girls in sexy maid outfits. As always, the Cinema Speakeasy mavens will ensure you’re entertained, meet new people, and maybe even win a fabulous raffle prize from our generous donors. So whether you plan on bringing friends or making new ones, dewa sono toki ni (that’s ‘see you then’, in Japanese).

WRAP REPORT
With your help, Cinema Spekaeasy raised enough money for over $4000.00 in food for Japanese quake victims. And, we had fun doing it at Royal/T’s beautiful, spacious and artsy digs.
The coolest thing about Royal/T is that it’s really BIG, so tons of people can show up without needing to bump elbows. Our CS friends spent the pre-show hangout eating food, wandering the art gallery and making new friends. Just like we like it.
The very lovely cast and crew of LiTTLEROCK was on hand to hang out, take questions, and party with us. And of course, the film was fantastic.
Finally, Jordan Smith’s Q&A featured what were probably the most intelligent set of questions we had witnessed.
